Weekly Report 3/12/10

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Dec 03, 2010 3:33 pm

It looks like we are not going to get a break in the weather for the next week or so. Most fishos headed down to Fish Rock for some nice kings but it is loaded with rats at the moment. There has been a few 3kg-plus tailor caught on the troll around Green Island and the Lighthouse. The northern reefs in close are producing a few snapper, morwong and the odd pearl perch. Spotted mackerel are on the bite off Tweed Heads; let’s hope the warm currents continue south.
The river is experiencing another fresh, keeping the brown colour throughout. Whiting are all over the place, some are undersize but there have been some crackers. The bigger units seem to be up past Jerseyville. Flathead are in good numbers around Stuarts Point, Clybucca and Jerseyville. Trevally are starting to appear around the oyster racks. Off the breakwall school jew are still in good numbers taking herring and mullet while the occasional thumper bream are coming out of the same location.
The beaches have been a little quiet with a few whiting off Smoky with the odd bream coming out of the gutters, just watch the bluebottles in the nor’easters. There were a few flathead towards Hat Head taking fish bait and showing an interest in 5” plastics. The rockhoppers are getting the odd small king off the lighthouse and the ledges off Hat Head.
We have our 12’ punt for sale, complete with new 5hp motor, 44lbfoot control electric motor, deep cycle battery and sounder with heaps of extras for $2700ono. Call 6566 6726
