Get your woollies on and head for the snapper grounds because they on the bite at a number of locations. Fish up to 8 kilos are being caught off Grassy with plastics and bait doing the job. Most snapper are being caught inside the 60m mark, just staying clear of the leatherjackets. Pearl perch are in good numbers as well from Grassy to Nambucca. Black Rock has been giving up some nice snapper early mornings. Fish Rock has a few kings around with the odd snapper and jewfish. I did hear of a couple of boats heading out to the shelf for disappointing results. If leatherjackets are you thing they are out there in big numbers.
It was another good week for bream in the river with some nice fish caught along both breakwalls. The odd tailor and salmon are at the end of the wall taking pilchards. The area around the oyster barn has a fair amount of weed and rubbish in the dirty water, making it hard to fish. The Cut was working well with some nice fish coming out including school jew. We had some better blackfish numbers from the river and Back Creek.
Good bream and the odd whiting are still running along the beaches with Smoky the most productive. Salmon and tailor are about in fair numbers in the surf and off the rocks. Hat Head has been excellent for tailor off the ledges with some nice drummer coming in.
