Weekly Report 21/10/11

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Oct 21, 2011 12:45 pm

We have strung a week of good days together and fishos have taken advantage of the conditions. Grassy has been producing some fair snapper, pearl perch and trag. Local Paul Peters got among the pearlies off the wider reefs with the best around 3.5kg cleaned. Rocks In Line has been fishing well for jewfish, the odd pearl perch and morwong. Fish Rock has been quiet apart from a few kingfish around with no world-beaters amongst them. Water temperature is still down but the water colour is good.
The Macleay River is starting to fire up with some nice flathead caught off the flats towards Stuarts Point as well as around Clybucca. 4” and 5” plastics are going really well on these. Along the walls bream are in good numbers, they’re not all legal but there are some nice ones. Jerseyville has been the hot spot for school jew for a number of weeks; whole worms and bigger plastics are working well. Whiting are in good numbers up river, even in the dirty water.
There have been some good catches of whiting and bream along Smoky Beach using worms and pipis while small jew and flathead are off the Hat Head side of the beach. Main Beach has small whiting and bream.
Our Christmas stocks are coming in so have a look and don’t forget you can lay-by for Christmas.
