Weekly Report 11/11/11

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Nov 11, 2011 2:25 pm

Another week of north-easterly winds has made it difficult for the outside fishos. Only a few ventured out but really you’re not missing anything, with the current still just a trickle in close while there is a little more out wider. There was the odd snapper caught off Grassy but there has been a lot of water between them. Fish Rock has a few legal kingfish among the hordes of undersize rats. There have been strong whispers of pelagics being caught off the Coffs Coast so with a little luck and some current we should see some action soon.
It has been another frustrating week for our beach fishos. Smoky Beach has the odd whiting and bream coming in with some guys hardly losing a bait in a session. It has been the same story on Gap Beach apart from the odd salmon and tailor. Main Beach near the wreck has had some nice bream and whiting coming in, with live worms the best. The rockhoppers are getting a few tailor, salmon, tarwhine and jewfish around the Lighthouse and North Smoky.
Flathead are starting to turn up in the river with a heap of undersize ones caught along the walls and in front of the tavern. Whiting are still on the bite up past Jerseyville with the odd smaller jewfish on worms. Clybucca has bream and whiting around the racks while flathead are about on the drift towards Stuarts Point.
