Weekly Report 2/12/11

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Dec 02, 2011 3:20 pm

We had some heavy rain during the past week, especially over the catchment area, hence the river looks like iced coffee. Those that do venture out in the next week must watch out for debris in the water and be careful, some of the channel markers may have moved.
The outside fishos had a tough week with windy conditions, but those that persevered and chased kings around Fish Rock were rewarded with fish up to 80cm. Up north the reef fish were scattered so move around or berley heavily and you should pick up a feed.
The pick of the fishing this week will be at the mouth of the river with the dirty water pushing out and moving bait with it. Already there have been a few nice jewfish caught but most are keeper schoolies. They will take whole mullet, squid or the bigger rattling lures.
Smoky Beach has stayed fairly clean throughout all the downpours and there are fish about. There is bream, whiting and darts in the gutters and holes with the best bait being worms.
Christmas is just around the corner so now’s the time to lay buy or pick up that special gift for.
