Weekly Report 23/12/11

Welcome to all our holidaymakers, we hope you are blessed with great weather and seas so we all can get some nice fish. The water has been around 23° or 24° with reports of marlin every few days. The FAD has been producing some nice mahi mahi in not much current. Fish Rock has been firing with some big kings, Grant Sullivan got an 8kg king while Chris Birchall one going 22kg. Snapper have been off Grassy and Scotts with the best around 7kg.
The river is still dirty but don’t be put off, there are fish in it. School jew from 1 kilo to 6kilo are regularly being hooked off the breakwall taking live mullet or herring. Big noisy Jew lures can work well. Bream are in good numbers along the walls with some flathead coming in as well. Whiting are on the bite up river as far as Kinchela, jumping all over worms and nippers.
Just be aware the Jerseyville boat ramp is very slippery and you need to be careful.
Smoky Beach is producing some good whiting with the odd bream and dart taking worms. Main Beach has whiting but may be hard to fish due to the crowds on the beach. Back Beach is worth a throw up towards the breakwall for some school jew.
Off the Rocks a few tailor and drummer are about with plenty of bream and tarwhine.
