Weekly Report 26/7/12

Post by Tony Zann » Thu Jul 26, 2012 2:27 pm

We had a little lull between the crappy ocean conditions last week with a few boats heading out to sea. Guys making the effort were rewarded with good catches of trag, some good fish amongst them, as well as snapper and pearl perch off Grassy. The water has dirtied up and the current has been running up to 2 knots. Out wider, leatherjackets are in big numbers. Down south the kings were not playing the game. Reports, courtesy of Sea Scout 2 Charters.
Our amazing blackfish season continued last week with good numbers off the breakwalls, north and south. Bream are about but for a more successful session try to lighten up your gear for a more stealthy approach. There are a few flathead coming in on fish bait like mullet and pillies.
Things have slowed up on the beaches with Smoky your best bet to get a feed. Tailor numbers are on the decline while salmon are in good numbers. Whiting have been on the southern end of the beach as well as a few flathead coming from the surf. Main Beach has some nice bream around the Boulders.
