Weekly Report 10/8/12

Post by Tony Zann » Thu Aug 09, 2012 11:49 am

Early in the week fishos took advantage of fair conditions and headed out for some good results. There has been great kingfish action around Fish Rock with some 80-90cm fish coming in with a heap of bust-ups reported. Green Island is fishing well for cracker bream and tailor. The northern reefs are producing snapper and pearlies with a few trag in the mix. Slimies have made a return from all the bait grounds. Leatherjackets are still about in as close as Fish Rock.
The river has been fishing well with some nice bream off the breakwall. Blackfish were more elusive last week but there was some quality fish among them. A few of our local boys got amongst some flathead through the week on plastics off the flats around Jerseyville and Stuarts Point.
Rockhoppers are catching good tailor off the ledges around the Jail with salmon, drummer and blackfish, while off the lighthouse some nice jewfish have been on the bite. Smoky Beach has tailor and salmon with some size bream taking live worms. Gap has the odd tailor and bream.
