Weekly Report 17/8/12

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Aug 17, 2012 2:15 pm

Midweek conditions improved greatly and excellent reports have come in. Off the northern reefs in around 80m pearl perch were going off with plenty around 3kg. There are stacks of trag in the same location with a few snapper. Leatherjackets are still in huge numbers out wider. Fish Rock has been producing kingfish with the odd good one amongst the rats.
The blackfish are back on the bite after the blow last week with some nice fish coming in. Bream have been all along the breakwall with salmon and school jewfish off the end of the wall. Flathead are starting to get a little more active in the river with a good number over 45cm. Smithtown back to Kinchela has been producing school jew and some good bream.
Rockhoppers are doing best in front of the lighthouse off the ledges with jew, drummer, tailor and bream in good numbers. Smoky Beach is loaded with salmon with the odd tailor and bream out of the gutters.
