Weekly Report 12/10/12

Fishos venturing out last week battled in close to get fish. If the conditions allow travel to the deeper water good pearl perch up to 3 kilo are being caught with the odd snapper and trag. Jewfish and samson were also reported last weekend. A few of the charter boys got some nice fish including a couple of bar cod. Fish Rock and Green Island have been quiet but over the next few weeks with the warmer water coming down they should all fire up.
There are some monster flathead in the river at the moment and it is always good the see the big ones swim away after a photo. It looks like the lizards are making their way down river with good catches through the Cut and in front of the tavern. Bream are in good numbers but the legal ones are hard to find. There are a few whiting up river with some bigger ones around Smithtown.
There have been a few drummer and tailor for the rockhoppers while the odd jewfish has been coming in off the Lighthouse and Hat Head ledges. Smoky Beach has been a little slow with a few bream, whiting and dart in the gutters. Back Beach has the odd flathead and salmon on the full tide. Try North Gap for a tailor on pilchards.
