Weekly Report 1/11/12

Post by Tony Zann » Thu Nov 01, 2012 9:17 am

Conditions outside were near perfect in the past week with fishos making the most of it. Heading south, Fish Rock produced some nice kingfish through the week with the odd smaller snapper coming in just off the rock. Rocks in Line has a few morwong and some pearl perch. Off the northern reefs trag again were the catch while there were a few snapper and pearlies around the closer reefs. Live bait was again in good numbers off the all the local bait grounds.
If you are after whiting out of the river head up to Smithtown for some cracker fish on a run-out tide. This has been the best river flathead run I have seen for quite some time. We have had so many reports through the week from all through the river system. The majority of success has come from soft plastics. There have been a few bream about but while the water is clear school jew are hard to come by. Good numbers of herring are in the river at the moment.
Beaches have been slow with a few dart and whiting on Smoky and Gap with the odd salmon still about. There were no reports of tailor.
