Weekly Report 9/11/12

Post by Tony Zann » Thu Nov 08, 2012 3:21 pm

Last week we had a return to wild and woolly conditions with strong northerlies making it tough to get out over the bar. Reports from outside indicated good numbers of trag around Grassy and Scotts heads with a few snapper and the odd pearl perch. Fish Rock has been slow while the wider reefs are holding a few snapper and morwong.
There has been some jewfish action off the river Breakwall using larger plastics or live bait, most are being caught on the tide change. Flathead continue to be in good numbers with one the hot spots towards the Jerseyville bridge in the shallows. Bream are along the rock walls with worms and nippers working a treat. Whiting are in a few locations, Clybucca, Jerseyville and up river to Smithtown.
It has been hit and miss on the beaches with Smoky the most productive. Dart are in good numbers with a few whiting and bream out of the gutters.
Rockhoppers are finding the odd tailor off the ledges around the Jail while under the lighthouse there have been a few jewfish taken on plastics.
