Weekly Report 15/11/12

Post by Tony Zann » Thu Nov 15, 2012 8:39 am

We are all waiting with anticipation for a big pelagic season, with news of big numbers of small marlin off the Gold Coast. With the warmer currents heading south, fishos off Coffs Harbour were hooking marlin and a few wahoo last weekend. Snapper to 4kg were caught off Grassy last week on 7” plastics in 30m of water. Tuskfish and pearl perch are coming in from the same area. Fish Rock has been slow while the wider grounds have been hard to fish in the unsettled conditions.
We had some big tides through the week with some nice flathead coming out of the creek inlets and mangroves. Night fishing has been producing some bigger bream along the breakwalls with some nice fish off the river boat ramp. Whiting numbers are on the rise with better results coming from up river. Flathead are in numbers around the shallows off Jerseyville Bridge.
Smoky Beach has dart, bream and the odd whiting with reports of salmon and tailor on the south end of the beach.
It is almost that time again so don’t forget we welcome lay-bys for that special Xmas gift.
