Weekly Report 23/11/12

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Nov 23, 2012 10:28 am

We are finally getting warmer currents. Reports have come in from our FAD of a few mahi mahi and we’ve heard of wahoo in numbers off Coffs Harbour. Grassy Head has been holding snapper, trag and a few pearlies with some small yellowfin. Rocks in Line and the Dot have some morwong, jewfish and the odd snapper. Fish Rock has a few kings, mostly rats but a local spearo’s said Black Rock was holding good kings. Live bait is in good numbers on the bait grounds.
Great flathead continue to be caught throughout the river. Hamish Packham, 9, from Coolah, threw a Gulp 5” Jerkshad for a classic 90cm 6kg flathead, snapped a photo and released her back into the river. Whiting are showing up with better fish around Smithtown. The break wall has been producing bream and some nice jewfish.
Rockhoppers have had a quiet time over the last few weeks with a few bream and the odd tailor off the ledges. Main Beach towards the Jail has whiting and a few bream while Smoky Beach has had some cracker bream, some whiting and dart.
