Weekly Report 7/12/12

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Dec 07, 2012 11:02 am

Things are really starting to heat up here with good numbers of small black marlin being sighted in the Bay and numbers hooked in close. One or two cobia have been caught but the locals are a little quiet about it. Late last week the cooler green water came in and the pelagics slowed down. The FAD is holding some small mahi mahi and lots of rat kings. On the snapper grounds off Grassy the odd red has come in with some nice pearl perch. Around the Dot big morwong and a few smaller snapper are on the bite. Good numbers of baitfish are here just in time for the pelagics.
Flathead in the river have slowed with a few being caught on the flats around Clybucca and Jerseyville. Bream are in good numbers along the walls while fair size whiting are being caught on worms and nippers in the shallows.
Rockhoppers have been among some nice drummer, tarwhine, bream and a few jewfish under the lighthouse. Whiting are on Main Beach towards the Jail with some bream back at the Boulders. Smoky Beach has good whiting with one or two jewfish coming out of the gutters.
