Weekly Report 15/2/13

Things are getting back to normal with good numbers of marlin being caught in front of the Jail. There are also some big cobia coming in as well with the best around 30kg. Sharks are a problem at the moment with hammerheads in numbers. Off the northern reefs spotties are just making a return in the clearing water. The odd Spanish are also about with local Bruce Rowsell hooking a 15kg-plus fish off Grassy. Out on the wider grounds snapper and pearlies in fair numbers.
Upriver the dirty water is still coming down but there are good numbers of whiting. Flathead have been caught on the drift around Jerseyville with soapy jew taking bait under the bridge. The breakwall at the mouth is holding good jewfish with a few over 15kg on the run-out tide. Through The Cut towards Clybucca and Stuarts Point, flathead and whiting are coming in off the flats and shallows.
Smoky Beach is fishing really well for plenty of bream, dart and whiting. Early morning, tailor have been on the bite as well. Hat Head has had cobia off the ledges while tailor and bream are in good numbers off the Jail rocks.
