Weekly Report 22/2/13

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Feb 22, 2013 4:13 pm

Another wet week, just as things were starting to dry up. River is brown again. Because of the southerly winds the water outside has been not too bad. Early in the week fishos got out in fair conditions and fished Grassy and up towards Nambucca for good numbers of snapper and trag. There were a few spotties caught off Grassy but no numbers yet. The Jail Ground has been the place to be with cobia, marlin and plenty of sharks to keep you interested. Big seas at the end of the week messed that up.
The river is fishing well for jewfish along the breakwall with some nice fish off the North Wall. 6” Gulps are working well. Flathead are in the mix as well, up to 4 kilo. Up around the boat ramp bream and flathead are on the bite. The river is dirty and worse further up river but whiting are coming in around Kinchela.
The beaches were most productive with Smoky loaded with whiting, bream and dart, all taking worms and pipis. Gap Beach has a few tailor and whiting while Main and Back beaches are washed out with swell.
No joy for the rock hoppers with the seas too big.
