Weekly Report 8/3/13

Three or four days without rain, you have to be excited! Unfortunately, our river will be chocolate for a number of weeks but don’t let it put you off because there are fish in it. There were some nice bream along the break walls while jewfish numbers are still good as well. Try for a flathead off the boat ramp in the river where they have had some bream about as well. Back creek has whiting near the mouth with some thumper bream caught on light gear.
Back Beach next to the breakwall has school jew in good numbers. Main Beach between the wrecks is fishing well for bream and whiting. Smoky Beach has bream and whiting with the odd jew on the Hat Head end of the beach.
The mackerel action off Grassy was a non-event last week out of the dirty water but the bottom bouncers picked up a few snapper and trag. In front of the Jail for yellowfin tuna around 5-6kg and a couple of Spanish came out of the same area. There were reports of a few Spanish off the rocks at Hat Head last week where the water is in a better condition.
