Weekly Report 19/4/13

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Apr 19, 2013 3:45 pm

We had a big sea whip up through the week which slowed the blue-water fishos for a day or so. Spotted mackerel were on the bite off Grassy with some good numbers brought home. There were a few Spanish but they were a little harder to find. Slimy mackerel are near impossible to get but the spotties are taking pilchards without much trouble. There has been the odd cobia and wahoo out in front of the Jail with some yellowfin tuna. There are some big kings around Fish Rock with reports of bust-offs and fish that can’t be turned.
Bream are along the breakwall in good numbers with some blackfish starting to come in along the wall. Jewfish and flathead have been caught out of the same location. It has been hard to get whiting out of the river with the best option the shallows around Clybucca. Jerseyville is producing flathead and bream around the trawlers.
Tailor are off the rock ledges from the Jail to the Lighthouse with drummer and bream. Smoky Beach has some monster dart with whiting and bream in the gutters. Gap Beach has a few tailor while Little Bay is fishing well for whiting.
