Weekly Report 26/4/13

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Apr 26, 2013 3:43 pm

We have had a perfect week with conditions flat and calm. With the water temperature still warm the pelagics were about in fair numbers. Grassy has been producing spotted mackerel on pilchards but live bait is still hard to find. There were reports of Spanish up off Scotts and Nambucca, quality fish but not big numbers. On the bottom there have been snapper to 4kg off Grassy with some nice pearl perch and trag out in about 60m. Yellowfin tuna are in numbers around Fish Rock with a few kings. One or two wahoo were reported through the week.
Our river has been extensively netted with reports from fishos on a daily basis where they have been throwing their nets. Along the breakwall the odd bream and flathead with a few school jewfish and some tailor off the end of the wall late afternoon. There were some blackfish caught along the wall, hopefully in the weeks to follow numbers will grow for a great season.
There is still the odd whiting on Smoky Beach with bream and dart in good numbers while of the north end of the beach. Tailor are about off the beach and the rocks.
