Weekly Report 10/5/13

Post by Tony Zann » Fri May 10, 2013 12:58 pm

Last weekend off Grassy the spotties went crazy with a number of bag-outs, but since then they have been very timid and frustrating. There still is a shortage of slimies about that’s only adding to the woes. On the other han, out of the same area snapper are coming in with berley getting better results. The charter guys are getting pearl perch and trag on the wider grounds. There are still good numbers of yellowfin about with fair kings from around Fish Rock. There were no reports of cobia, wahoo or marlin through the week.
Bream are in numbers in the river along the walls with some nice fish coming in after dark. There were a few mangrove jack pulled out of the river last week with some nice flathead and moses perch. Blackfish are being caught early in the season, they are finicky but there are some good fish amongst them.
Beach fishing has been a hit and miss affair with the mullet haulers in full swing but the odd tailor, bream and whiting are on Smoky and Gap beaches with flathead on Back Beach and whiting on Main Beach.
