Weekly Report 24/5/13

Post by Tony Zann » Fri May 24, 2013 3:40 pm

Cold windy conditions prevailed through the week with outside fishos pulling in some nice snapper from off Scotts and Grassy before it all got too much. Local Zac Latham hooked a classic snapper around 7kg. Pearl perch and trag are in fair numbers in about 60m. There were one or two whispers of spotted mackerel up north. Tailor are on the bite around Green Island with some good ocean bream coming in. Not much action around Fish Rock apart from rat kings and the odd small snapper.
Blackfish were more active last week with most caught on cabbage. Very clear conditions were making it tough in the river with the finicky bream but some colour is likely after the rain. Flathead are in fair numbers along the breakwall, in front of the tavern and around Clybucca. Rainbow Reach has been home to some nice school jew. Herring are about for live bait, lollypops for big lizards and bream.
Smoky Beach has been patchy with a few bream, dart and tailor. Gap Beach has tailor while Main Beach has some whiting still coming in. Rockhoppers are getting drummer and tailor with some cracker fish amongst them.
