Weekly Report 7/6/13

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Jun 07, 2013 2:32 pm

Big seas last week pretty well shut down the outside scene with a few boats getting out later in the week for some nice snapper off the northern reefs with some quality pearlies. One crew fished Fish Rock for one or two kings but it was ugly out there. Hopefully it will stir the winter snapper to attack the plastic baits again up off Grassy.
Our river is fishing well at the moment with some great bream coming in from along the breakwalls with a good number around a kilo. If you can get on the water the oyster racks around Clybucca are also holding good bream. Blackfish are working along the walls but there has been no size about them. Up river there are still the odd whiting while flathead and bream are around Smithtown. Don’t forget it is closed season for bass until August.
Rockhoppers are having a ball with the drummer and bream off the ledges with some nice jewfish up to 8kg in front of the lighthouse. Big tailor have been pulled off Smoky Beach through the week with some great bream out of the gutters. North Gap has tailor and bream while off Main Beach bream are around the Boulders.
