Weekly Report 26/7/13

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Jul 26, 2013 3:01 pm

Southerlies blasted through last week, easing off for a good weekend on the water. Leatherjackets are on the chew pretty well all over the ocean. Getting past them you will find snapper off Grassy, out at The Dot and reports of some good fish around Black Rock. Pearl perch are about with local Ken Martin pulling in a nice 4kg unit. There are lots of rat kings around Fish Rock with one or two better fish. Out on the wide grounds bar cod are there in fair numbers. Tailor are about on the troll with Wilson Big T spinners doing the job.
There are some big jewfish in the river at the moment on live pike. Bream are about but are a little harder to get so the quiet of night is the go. No one is getting any numbers of blackfish along the walls with a couple of fish a session in the bucket. To get a lazy flathead, find a live herring or two.
The rockhoppers have been getting some nice drummer through the week with some smaller tailor off the ledges.
It has been tough getting a feed off the beaches with Smoky or Gap beach your best bet for a bream or a lizard
