Weekly Report 2/8/13

We have had a break in the weather with some better conditions on the ocean. Off the northern reefs snapper have been in the shallow water early morning. Pearl perch are in fair numbers in close and off the wider grounds. Bar cod are about out wide with some good numbers in the deep water. Fish Rock has been fishing well for kingfish with a few nice snapper 200m off the rock. Acres of leatherjackets are out there, mostly out past the 40m line.
Nice Bream are in the river with some crackers around the oyster racks at Clybucca and towards Stuarts Point. The odd flathead will be sunning in the shallows eager to jump on a lure. Blackfish are still patchy along the walls but the boys tell me they are quality fish. Good schoolies are about in the river at the mouth and back to the Jerseyville Bridge.
Smoky Beach is your best bet for bream on worms and pipis. The odd whiting appeared last week along the beach but no size about them. Fair tailor numbers are off the rock ledges with some quality drummer In the mix.
