Weekly Report 15/8/13

Post by Tony Zann » Thu Aug 15, 2013 3:58 pm

It has been a fairly quiet week on the water with conditions not too bad but there’s a lot of water between the fish. Trag are still the main species off the northern reefs with a few snapper and pearl perch between 30-60m. Leatherjackets are in big numbers out as far as 120m in near zero current. Morwong are around The Dot and Rocks in Line with the odd snapper. There were some nice kings around Fish Rock and if you are after tailor, troll from the rock to the Jail for some good fish.
Blackfish were in better numbers last week with the North Wall around White Rock up to Kemps Corner fishing the best. Fair numbers of legal bream have been caught off the walls and racks on the tide changes. With the water temps in the river up, flathead are poking around in the shallows with some bigger units in the deeper water.
Good numbers of tailor have been caught off rock ledges early morning, drummer and bream biting through the day. Smoky has had the odd whiting, bream and tailor with stacks of small dart stealing your bait.
