Weekly Report 13/9/13

Be careful for what we wish for, but we could do with some rain to put a little fresh in our river. It has been tough to pull a decent fish out of the river. There are plenty of small bream about with the better ones caught in the dark. On the bright side, flathead are in fair numbers from the boatshed up and taking plastics and fish bait. Kinchela and Smithtown have some whiting, flathead and bass on the run-out tide.
There is not a great deal to report from outside; even though the conditions are good, the fish are hard to find. There are a few snapper to 2kg about off Grassy with a trag or two out in 30-60m. There have been some bar cod out past 60m in a fairly strong current. Fishos are having fun with some rat kings around Fish Rock.
Smoky Beach has small whiting returning to the beach gutters with the odd dart and bream taking worms and pipis. Gap Beach has been quite with a few tailor on the north end.
Off the rocks around Little Bay, bream are in good numbers with a few tailor and drummer in front of the jail while jewfish have been caught off the Lighthouse rocks.
