Weekly Report 27/9/13

If you are holidaying here you could not have wished for better weather and crystal-clear waterways. We had some good reports from the close grounds off Grassy Head for snapper with pearlies out wider but the current has been roaring, making it tough to fish. The Dot has a few snapper with Rocks in Line producing morwong, pearl perch and one or two leatherjackets still about. Fish Rock is alive with rat kingfish, good fun on light gear but most are sub-65cm throwbacks.
Keeper bream are hard to find out of the clear water of the river so go light and stealthy for better results. There are some nice flathead about with Clybucca, Stuarts Point and Jerseyville the hot spots. School jew are under the Jerseyville bridge and in the deeper holes up river. Whiting are starting to move in the shallows, taking worms.
Smoky Beach has plenty of dart with some whiting and bream. Gap Beach has been slow with the odd tailor off the rocks.
Rockhoppers are battling off the ledges with tarwhine, drummer and the odd tailor.
