Weekly Report 18/10/13

I can’t remember a blow lasting this long and I am sure there are heaps of frustrated fishermen left to mow lawns and tick off to-do lists. A few of the charter boats braved the conditions on the better days for some nice kingfish around Fish Rock jigging for more than legal units. It has been a little quiet in close but if you battle the seas in about 60m, pearl perch are on the bite.

Even though it’s blowing like a mongrel, jewfish have been on the bite along the break wall. A local fellow picked up two nice jew to 15kg while Rob Shaw from Bermagui landed a great 15kg jew on a Z-Man 9" glow plastic. Closer to the boat ramp, good flathead have been coming in with some reasonable bream.

Off the local beaches, Back Beach is producing fair flathead on the run-out tide at the creek's entrance. Smoky has been patchy with a few bream and dart with the odd whiting off the Hat Head end. The Rock hoppers are picking up the odd nice jew off the ledges around the lighthouse.

Take care on the bars
