Weekly Report 01/11/13

Post by Nicole Penfold » Fri Nov 01, 2013 10:03 am

Same story, different week, wind blowing from both directions with only one or two days a week fishable. The Northern reefs are holding some good Trag with a few Snapper and Mowies. We did have some dirty water come in last week which would have slowed it down. Fish Rock fished well again through the week for some nice Kings.

One of our locals fished Smoky Beach for a nice School Jewfish. hhappy with himself, he went to the Back Creek tables to prepare his prize only to lose his nice fillets to pelicans while his back was turned. Bummer!

Whiting, Bream and Dart are also on out of the gutters. There have been Whiting around Arakoon in the bay with the odd Bream.

Clear conditions prevail in the river making it tough to catch fish through the day. Fishing the tide changes off the North Wall can pick up School Jewfish, which have been around in numbers. A reminder, as of the 1st of November Jewfish must be 70cm to be kept with a bag of 2 per person.

Flathead have been caught on the drift around the Cut up to Jerseyville with some nice fish coming in through the week. Bream are along the wall with some good catches at night.

Take care on the bars

Paul Martin
