Weekly Report 21/11/2013

Post by Nicole Penfold » Thu Nov 21, 2013 3:31 pm

It has certainly been tough on the ocean through the week, with only some scattered catches coming in. The northern reefs are producing some small Snapper, Trag, Morwong and the odd Pigfish. Out of Rocks in Line Morwong are in numbers, any wider and the current was ripping through heading south. Fish Rock is loaded with rat Kings with most just undersize. Live bait is not a drama at the moment, all we are waiting for is the fish.

The mouth of the river has been producing some Jewfish; some have been around the 20 kilo mark. Fishos chasing Bream are battling along the breakwalls to hook a keeper. There have been a few Whiting around Clybucca, Jerseyville and upriver to Smithtown. The odd Flathead are about; the river is a better colour following the recent rains.

The reports from Smoky Beach have been mixed, with days where you can’t lose a bait to fair runs of Dart and the odd Bream. Back Beach has a few Sand Flathead while Main Beach has some small Whiting.

Rock hoppers are doing it tough here at the Rocks. It's best to head to Hat Head with reports of Tuna off the ledges.

Take care on the bars
