Weekly Report 04/12/13

Post by Nicole Penfold » Wed Dec 04, 2013 11:35 am

There have been signs that things are starting to fire up on the bluewater scene. Good numbers of Dolphin Fish (Mahi Mahi) out on the FAD are coming in with some of these fish going 12 kilo taking live bait.

Heading out to 80 meters off Grassy, good Pearl Perch are coming up from the bottom with a few Snapper in closer again. There were Trag coming in off the northern reefs. Fish Rock fished for some big Kings through the week with a few bust-ups reported.

If there is a Bream to catch, local legend James Hasset will catch it, like the few he caught along the break wall going a respectable 42cm on Herring bait. Whiting were in better numbers last week out of the flats at Jerseyville, Clybucca and up around Kinchela. The recent big tides would have flushed those creeks where the big Flathead lay.

Good catches of Whiting and Dart are off Smoky with North Gap producing Bream. Back Beach has the odd Whiting and Flathead. Rock Hoppers off Hat Head are getting the odd Long Tail and there were whispers of a Cobia or two off the ledges.

Take care on the bars
