Weekly Report 19/02/14

Post by Nicole Penfold » Wed Feb 19, 2014 11:15 am

After 3 or 4 days of nothing, Grassy fired up again with good numbers of Spotted and Spanish Mackerel. Most fish again were hooked on the troll using live slimies with a few Spanish deeper in the water with a weighted Slimy. The usually reliable Dolphinfish have gone into hiding but the current is pushing the FAD underwater. Still on the northern reefs Snapper and a few Trag were on the bottom. Trolling hard bodies like Rapalas and Halcos has been working well on Spanish in front of the Gaol. Small Blacks have slowed a little but there has been the odd big Blue on the wider grounds.

A few mulloway turned up along the North Wall through the week on the higher tide. Flathead numbers are improving with the fresh, while Bream and Fingermark are along the Walls. Jerseyville and Kinchela are hot spots for Whiting at the moment.

The north end of Smoky Beach has been tough but down at Hat Head Bream, Whiting and Flathead are on the bite. Rock hoppers are getting smashed with Kingfish and Bonito all along the ledges.

Take care on the bars
