Weekly Report 26/02/14

Post by Nicole Penfold » Wed Feb 26, 2014 12:48 pm

We have had another great week on the water with the Mackerel mainly being caught off the gaol. Good numbers of Spanish are coming in with live bait in good supply. The only problem is Shark numbers are up, fighting you for the fish. The FAD has Dolphin Fish but the numbers are dropping. It has been tough to bring a Snapper in off the bottom but Trag are still about. Heading south, Wahoo have started to make an appearance with Yellowfin and Kings around the Rock. Bonito are in good numbers with some nice Tailor on the troll.

In the river the north side of the Break wall around White Rock has been producing Jewfish on big plastics and live Bait. Some nice Flathead and Bream are on the south wall near the mouth with a report of a very good Mangrove Jack through the week. Whiting are up river with some nice Flathead around Jerseyville.

Smoky Beach is fishing well for Whiting, Bream and Dart with a Flathead or two in the white water. Gap Beach has some Tailor and Bream while Back and Main Beach has a few Whiting. Rock hoppers are getting small Kings, Bonito and Tailor, with Hat Head producing a few Spanish and Tuna.

Take care on the bars
Paul Martin
