Weekly Report 02/04/14

Post by Nicole Penfold » Wed Apr 02, 2014 1:07 pm

What a difference a week makes! After the low pressure system we have had the Spotted Mackerel were caught in big numbers through the week where bags were common. Spanish were a little harder to find off the Grassy grounds. Snapper were in better numbers on the bottom out of the same area along with Trag and the odd Pearlie up to 3 kilo. The FAD has been a hit and miss with a few Dollies around it. Out on the wider grounds Bar Cod have been caught but with no size about them. Off the Gaol there has been the odd Spanish and Wahoo with a few Cobia down towards Fish and Black Rock. Slimies are still hard to come by.
Rock Hoppers are amongst a good run of Tailor at the moment with plenty of Tuna to keep them happy. Smoky Beach has some nice Whiting and big Dart coming out of the gutters.
The river has been fishing well since we have had the small fresh through it. Flathead are in good numbers with some nice whiting coming down. No reports of monster Jew yet but good numbers of fair schoolies.

Take care on the bars
Paul Martin
