Weekly Report 16/04/14

Last week we saw southerlies rip through the Rocks even though the Bay has been smooth it has been wilder out wide. The numbers of Spotted Mackerel are still up with some nice Spanish in the Mix. Wahoo have been off Fish Rock while there are a few Cobia in front of the Gaol. The FAD has been producing Dolphin Fish in fair numbers. The bottom bashers are picking up a few Snapper, Trag and the odd Pearl Perch. Some good Tailor have been caught on the troll around Green Island with some Yellow Fin towards Fish Rock.

It has been a little slow in the river through the week. Plenty of small Flathead are about just undersize with the odd plater amongst them. Bream along the walls are biting well early morning with the last of the run out tide best. The North Wall is producing good Jewfish on live Baits or big Plastics.
Through the Cut, Whiting and Flathead have been in the shallows.

Beach fishing first light should get you a Tailor, with Bream and Dart in fair numbers off Smoky and Gap Beach. Rock hoppers are getting good Drummer and Tailor with small Kings in the mix.

Take care on the bars
Paul Martin
