Weekly Report 23/04/14

Post by Nicole Penfold » Wed Apr 23, 2014 2:00 pm

Gentle breezes, pristine crystal clean beaches and warm late summer days greeted the fortunate holiday makers that chose an Easter break at South West Rocks. The Mackerel season is coming to an end and as previous years has shown Spotties are timid and light gear is the go especially when Slimies are hard to find. There were a few Spanish about off the Northern reefs. The FAD has Dolphin Fish around it in good numbers. Down south Yellow Fin are off Fish Rock with Rapala lures going well. Bottom Bashers are picking up some nice Snapper and Pearl Perch off Grassy and Scotts.

The beaches have been fishing better with Smoky producing good Bream and Whiting with nice Tailor early while at Gap Beach Whiting and Tailor are off the North end. Good Tailor numbers are about for the rock hoppers.

The river is loaded with small Bream eager to pick off the bait, look at tide changes for better results. Jerseyville is fishing well for Flathead and Whiting in the shallows. Some nice Schoolies were hooked up off the Break Wall with some big Flathead. Bass are in good numbers up river past Kempsey, great fun on surface lures.

Take care on the bars
