The Mackerel season still continues off Grassy with good numbers of Spotties being boated through the day. Last week the bite seemed to be the afternoon. Out at the FAD there have been stacks of Dolphin Fish but most are undersize. On the bottom around the Northern reefs there have been some Snapper about but no world beaters. The odd Samsonfish is being caught chewing on Pilchards. Yellow Fin are taking trolled baits with Bonito and Tailor from the Gaol down to Fish Rock. On the positive, Slimies are in better numbers off the bait grounds.

Now is the time to fish the river for those thumper Bream along the Walls. You won’t catch these fish in the middle of the day so rug up and it will be worth it. Good numbers of Flathead are being caught but it has been hard to get a keeper. Jerseyville Bridge is producing Bream, Flathead and the odd School Jew.

Smoky Beach has some cracker Bream along it with one or two Whiting and Dart with Worms and Pipis the go. Off the Rocks good numbers of Tailor, Bream and Tarwhine are being caught.
Take care on the bars
