Report 25/06/14

Post by Nicole Penfold » Wed Jun 25, 2014 10:57 am

Cold weather but good sea conditions were the order of the day last week but once again the Spotties refuse to go home with some nice fish coming in. Big dolphin fish were in great numbers off the FAD with meter fish amongst them. The water temps reported were between 22/23 degrees with a current running south. Bottom bashers were doing alright with Snapper and Pearlies off the reefs up north while there has been a few Cod on the wide grounds. Fish Rock and further south has Kings, Yellow fin and the Cobia with 2 weighed in around the 16 kilo mark. Plenty of live bait around.

There were a few Jewfish about last week with the best a 26 kilo unit of the Break Wall on a Blackfish head. There has again been plenty of Bream along the walls and the oyster racks smashing blade lures and floated plastics. Flathead were playing the game up river past the Jerseyville Bridge on the drift of throwing plastics.

Off the rocks, the Lighthouse has produced Jewfish using lumo and white bigger plastics. Closer to home Small Kings, Bonito and Tailor have been off the Gaol past the Gutter. Smoky has been a hot spot for Tailor with a few Bream and Dart.
