Report 16/07/14

Post by Nicole Penfold » Wed Jul 16, 2014 10:00 am

Bigger swells at the end of last week made it a little tough for the blue water fisherman to get out there, for what may be the last of the Pelagics. A few days prior Dolphin Fish were still in numbers off the FAD while in close off Grassy Spotties were in limited numbers. On the bottom Trag were about with the odd Snapper in about 30 meters. If you are venturing out further Leather Jackets are over the place. Around Fish Rock and Green Island Bonito and Tailor are being picked up on the troll while the odd King Fish are around the Rock.

In the river Flathead are in numbers in the shallows through the Cut up to Stuarts Point. Black Fish have been on the bite in Back Creek, and along the Breakwall, but no one is catching their bag. The water is slowly cooling which has been bringing some nice Bream in along the Wall. With the full moon last week Jewfish numbers were good as long as you fished into the night.

Off the rocks Drummer and Tailor are there but the swell has the fisho’s on the run. Smoky and Gap beach are fishing well for Tailor with some cracker Bream in the gutters.
