Report 20/3/15

Post by subeditor » Fri Mar 20, 2015 12:21 pm

It is a very busy time here at the Rocks with fisho’s coming from everywhere to get amongst the best run of Mackerel we have seen for a while. Grassy Head grounds are producing good numbers of Spotted Mackerel with most smashing pilchards or Slimies if you can get them. From the Gaol grounds down to Hat Head Spanish are also in good numbers. Bonito or Frigates are the gun bait for these fish. There are big numbers of Sharks about, ready to leave you with just a fish head like the 16 kilo Spanish head we weighed in this week.
Rock Hoppers are hooking up with Spanish, Cobia and Tuna off Hat Head down to Plummer. Off the beaches Smoky has the odd good Whiting with Dart and Tailor around first light. Main beach has a few Whiting while Back beach has Flathead at the mouth of the creek.
The river is clearing well and holding good Bream and Flathead with bigger plastics working well on the Lizards. Jerseyville has some quality Jewfish around the pylons.
CRANKA CRABS ARE BACK IN STOCK

Take care on the Bars
