Report 5/6/15

Post by subeditor » Fri Jun 05, 2015 2:30 pm

We have had a productive week with Fish Rock and Green Island firing up for some good legal Kings coming up and plenty of bust offs from big units that can’t be turned. The Flathead grounds in front of the lighthouse are producing plenty of fish if you need a feed. Bonito and Tailor are along the rocks in close on the troll. Up off Grassy and Scotts good numbers of pan size Snapper off the bottom with the odd Pearl Perch in the mix. No Mackerel to report this week but in saying that Forster were catching them early in the week.
The Back Creek was loaded with good Blackfish last weekend but slowed down through the week while there were a few along the Breakwall, but it’s still early. We are going through the best Bream season for a while with plenty of kilo fish to be caught throughout the river system. Good numbers of Flathead are coming in on fish baits like Pillies and Mullet. Whiting are still on the bite this late in the shallows.
If you like to see the sun rise on a beach head to Smoky Beach, throw a line in and you will get amongst a good run of Whiting and Tailor with Dart and Bream in good numbers as well. Off the rocks Drummer, Tarwhine and Tailor are everywhere.

Take care on the Bars
