14/5/06 Weekly Report

Post by Tony Zann » Sun May 14, 2006 10:13 am

We have put together two good weeks in a row where conditions have been fantastic but the downside has been the fish are a little tough to find.
There have been a few blokes bream fishing at night on the river with not much success, ideal conditions, a million throwbacks but very few keepers. Flathead have been about with catches up to 3kg. Blackfish are just starting to show up but still there is no weed to be found. I did hear one local has been using nippers with some success. One or two jewfish have been hooked off the breakwall, on live pike.
The beaches are slow with Smoky Beach getting a flogging with the netters so maybe Gap Beach might be a better option. Tailor have been around the boulders on Main Beach morning and afternoon.
There have been plenty of nice jewfish coming in from outside from out wide off Fish Rock up to Grassy. Scotts Head worked well for Max and Dave, bagging out on nice snapper in 18 metres of water. Bar cod and pearl perch are out wide while there have been good kingfish taking knife jigs around Fish Rock .
We have a petition in the shop against the marine park lockouts so please show your support, come in and sign or email. Your thoughts to rocksmarine@tsn.cc and vote against this stupidity.
