Report 18/1/18

Southerlies abating, pristine blue water in close, good sea conditions and the only thing missing is the fish in it. Late in the week fisho’s ventured out but battled to find a feed. Out wider to the FAD the current has been roaring and the Dollies were scarce. There has been the odd Snapper about with a few Mackerel but we still have a problem getting Slimies off the Bait grounds. There are plenty of big schools of Frigate Mackerel but unfortunately the wrong bait. I am positive its only days away before the Pelagics are biting their heads off.

Better news in the river where some monster Flathead are being lured up with well-presented baits or bigger plastics. There are some nice Whiting in the shallows and sand bank drop offs. This is where those Poppers and shallow divers are working a treat for these tasty fish. The river Break Wall is fishing well for Bream and nice Flathead with the odd Jew giving the night fisho’s a run or two. GT’s have been around Jerseyville along with Flathead and Whiting. There are plenty of Herring about around the Jetty’s and Boat ramps.

Beach fishing has been tough with the bigger seas coming in but once again Smoky Beach is producing some nice fish.

Short one this week let’s hope for better results outside next week.
