Report 25/1/17

Post by Nicole Penfold » Thu Jan 25, 2018 11:17 am

We had a more productive week with some better fish coming in. In fair conditions there were a few Mackerel about off Grassy in greenish water. 12 year old Kahlee Dunn from Newcastle fished with her family off Grassy for a classic 22 kilo Spanish on a slimie. Out at The FAD there are Dolphin Fish in good numbers with a few bigger Marlin. Wahoo are also on the bite with some nice units caught. Fair Snapper and Pearlies out a little wider have been caught on the bottom. Heading south Cobia and Kings are in fair numbers. There is plenty of bait on the surface breaking which is a good sign for the next few weeks.

In the Macleay at the moment there are so many great Flathead up to a meter reported over the last few weeks, gladly most are released. GTs are plentiful around Jerseyville along with some cracker Whiting in the shallows. Bream are in good numbers but they are on the small side. Up around Clybucca through to Stuarts Point Flathead and Whiting are in good numbers.

We had a few schools of Tailor come in on Smoky last week with some good fish amongst them. Whiting have arrived in numbers on Smoky and Gap Beach.

Back Beach has a few Flathead Bream and Whiting.
