11/8/06 Weekly Report

Post by Tony Zann » Fri Aug 11, 2006 12:25 pm

Offshore: Conditions for the past week have not allowed much, if any, offshore activity. I've written in recent weeks of the problems with leatherjackets and the weekend before last saw guys fishing off Old Bar in about 30m catching plenty of snapper and no jackets. The forecast for the weekend looks OK, so a trip outside could be on the cards. What you find when you get to your spot is a bit speculative. Have a shark rig handy!
Beaches: Also badly affected by the seas and strong winds. Almost nothing to report, but schools of salmon remain in the area and I expect a few guys will be targeting mulloway after dark.
Rocks: The drummer fishing continues to be the best option on offer.
Estuary: While the wind has been a problem at least the lake provided a couple of spots that allowed some respite. The blackfish and bream remain good, with the bright moon of an evening always providing some great bream fishing at night if you don't mind the cold. With three to four good days of weather in front of us, hopefully it will provide a little bit more to talk about next week
