Offshore: The reefs are providing some excellent snapper fishing on baits and plastics. Around headlands there are some bonito and the never-to-go-away salmon. While the local FAD has been put back in, it's still a bit early for mahi mahi in that close. The local game fishing club is stirring into action and it won't be long before the striped marlin reports come flooding in.
Beaches: Yes, there are plenty of salmon around, in particular Seven Mile Beach. Whiting and the occasional big bream can be taken on worms or pipis. Some small tailor have been reported. The mulloway off beaches in the Old Bar area have been on fire.
Rocks: Little to report from the rock fishing department other than a few second-hand reports of mulloway from the Pacific Palms/Seal Rocks area.
Estuary: Excellent mulloway fishing is currently being experienced from the Tuncurry Breakwall. Big 9” soft plastics are back in favour.
The lake is full of whiting, both sand and trumpeter. As you would imagine, flathead are also easy to target as the weather warms up. A few visitors to town have reported some quality bream from the breakwalls and also well up the rivers that feed the lake. Mud crabs are already quite active. The prawn dark just gone was as good as it gets.
