Weekly Report 25/11/06

Offshore: Very little to report except some exceptional snapper fishing. The best reports have come from reasonably shallow reefs, with the fish happy to bite all day. Still a few small kings at the FAD with some larger versions coming from the Seal Rocks area. Red weed has been reported out wide.
Beaches: Salmon, whiting, dart and some bream are coming from the main beaches north and south of town. Some larger tailor are being caught, but with no consistency.
Rocks: A few guys have spun up some tailor, but not much else.
Estuary: The Whiting massacre continues with fleets of small boats on the lake at daybreak for their 20 trumpeters. Takes them longer to clean them than it does to catch! The flathead fishing has been outstanding with more than one customer commenting that they can't catch any small ones – they're all big. Mulloway to 30kg have been common in the main channel with 9'' soft baits the main weapon. Bream on lures are to be had, but you'll spend a bit of time doing the R & D before you work out their habits and whereabouts.
