Weekly Report 22/06/07

Offshore: As anyone living on the Mid-North Coast would be aware, we have had a little bit of wind and swell over the last few weeks. Who knows what you will catch when someone finally heads to sea? This weekend’s forecast looks better than average and I'd imagine a few boats will go as far as Blackhead or Latitude Rock chasing reds. Maybe next week I'll have some actual fishing reports to pass on.
Beaches: The prevailing swell from the south east hasn't really done a lot to create new beach structure. A few guys fished the southern end of Tuncurry Beach last night (Thurs) for some quality bream and a few tailor. The evening high tide in the next few days should provide some improved beach fishing.
Rocks: A couple of hardy souls have been on the rocks dodging waves and catching some excellent bream and drummer. Providing conditions are safe, the rock fishing will be at its best after the series of big blows that have been hitting the coast. Lots of schools of blackfish have been sighted.
Estuary: While the wind has made the estuary difficult to fish at times, at least it has been the safest option. The run-off from the recent rain has made for some outstanding bream fishing in the lower parts of the system. Bait and lure fishos have all done well. Good to see hard body lures again getting plenty of time in the water. Watch out for some monster tailor lurking in the lake. They have been responsible for robbing a few of the bream guys of some expensive lures.
