Offshore: Quality snapper are being found in close in less than 20m of water. Of course quite a few of these are falling to soft plastics. If the wind drops off for an evening fish, head north from port to the area known as Elsies as trag will be on the chew. Don't forget to get live bait before you head out. No reports from out on the shelf but the sea surface temp. chart makes for interesting viewing. The DPI website indicates that the local FAD has yet to be repositioned after winter maintenance.
Beaches: Beaches to our south are already producing some big sand whiting. Salmon are still in huge numbers on Seven Mile Beach but under these have been some solid bream. Few if any tailor have been reported. Not a lot of mulloway reports from local beaches but the areas around Harrington continue to fish well.
Rocks: The rock fishing has dropped off a little but there are still plenty of drummer to be had. Not much else to report.
Estuary: While the bream on lures have been a bit slow, flathead have been very active as have the occasional sand whiting that have taken a lure. Still plenty of big blackfish around the bridge and breakwalls. Some mulloway were caught leading up to the Full Moon.
A new webcam has been placed atop the Forster/Tuncurry Coastal Patrol tower which provides a view of the local bar conditions. The picture updates every five seconds and can been accessed via the Forster Beach Caravan Park website www.forsterbeachcaravan.com.au. Go to the links page where you will find it and plenty of other fishing info. Thanks to Chris at FBCP for his assistance in getting the webcam up and running.
